The girls and coach started to give me a hard time about the blades so I began to borrow some skates. Three times I used very nice Reidells' and they were $190.00 new. Last night I got to try these out and I am very impressed. Very comfy, no long break-in time, fast and light. After 20 minutes we made an adjustment to the trucks and it was even better. I felt very good and when I get better wheels it will be great. The skates run slightly large I think, but thick socks did the trick. Also, they look way better in person than in the stock picture. You can spend way more and get way less, I looked for weeks and compared a lot of price ranges and brands. These will become my outdoor skates when I can spend over $200.00 for a better pair, but for 49 bucks? This is a great skate for the price. I've recently gotten back into skating and wanted my own skates because I don't really like the rentals at the rink. They arrived fast and I also agree with the other reviewer on the fact that they look much better in person.Though I'm quite the roller derby fan, I don't play derby so my skates are for recreational purposes. I don't know if I'd buy them for derby, but obviously don't know enough to dissuade derby players from buying them. I do think they're good, cheap beginning speed skates and would probably serve the purpose of a beginning jam skater. The great thing is the lack of "breaking in" of the shoe. It's comfortable like a nice pair of sneakers right out the box. You definitely need to change the wheels. The stock wheels are too slow and too much debris gets caught in the ridges, even on a fairly clean floor. Overall, these are a good, comfortable pair of affordable...
