As I was teaching them how to do it I remember how much I loved to skate as a kid. I'm 35 and "curvy" and didn't think my ankles could handle roller blades. Plus I love the retro look of these skates. They're exactly like the ones I had as a kid. The only difference is the color of the wheels. These ones are a pale, rosy pink - not the hot, orangy pink in one of the pictures. Also, some pictures show the heel as black, but mine came in the light brown.I wear a size 9 shoe and ordered an 8 based on the other reviews. I'm glad I did because the 8s are just about perfect, if not still a little big. The wheels don't spin as easily as I remember from 25 years ago which is a good thing for someone like me who wants to take things slow. The construction is quite sturdy.
